Job Description
THE POSITION

The Data Quality Office is in search of a results oriented professional to work in support of agency wide data collection, analysis, and reporting efforts. This position plans, organizes, conducts, evaluates, and presents statistical studies on various aspects of student, staff, and course data, utilizing advanced statistical techniques to analyze data, detect trends and present findings. This position also assesses the implications of data collected relative to educational initiatives, programs, and issues. Finally, this position is a liaison between agency offices, educational and government agencies, vendors, and the public.


DESCRIPTION OF WORK

A Statistician 3 plans, designs, and conducts advanced statistical studies & collections on various Elementary & Secondary educational programs. This position assesses the implications of data collected relative to educational initiatives and issues. A Statistician 3 works with program staff internal and external to the agency to make sure requirements are clearly understood and data is accurate and complete. This position utilizes advanced statistical techniques to analyze data, detect trends, present findings & meet several governmental reporting requirements.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. Employees must report to the office the first Thursday of every month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of professional experience in the collection, compilation, editing, and statistical analysis of quantified data and a bachelor's degree; or
  • One year as a Statistician 2; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Other Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • Minimum of two years of education data experience specific to K-12 public education in Pennsylvania.
  • Expertise in SQL or expertise with advanced features of Excel or Access.
