The AI Computational Biology team is a multidisciplinary team that uses Invitae’s database of millions of research-consented patients for drug discovery and development. We are looking to add a statistical geneticist to our team who will be developing methods and interpreting analyses to understand how human genetic variation affects health and disease.
What you’ll do:
  • Design and write software for genetic association studies using Invitae and linked datasets
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for therapeutic development from large-scale association studies
  • Work across teams at Invitae and externally to identify and integrate relevant datasets for method improvement and validation
What you bring: Think about the top 5 responsibilities of this role and try to limit to 5 concise bullet points.
  • PhD or equivalent experience in statistical genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, machine learning, or related quantitative field
  • Strong programming skills, including in python, for analyzing large datasets of paired NGS and clinical data
  • Experience writing software for population genetics studies (such as EWAS, gene burden tests, Mendelian randomization, genetic imputation etc.)
  • Effective in working both collaboratively and independently
  • Creativity in experimenting with new methods and improving existing tools
Preferred skills: Optional Section, these are not “deal breakers”.
  • Experience with industry software development and high-performance computing
  • Familiarity with the drug discovery and development process using human genetics data
