Staff Research Scientist Jobs

Overview
The Staff Research Scientist will perform research in viral vector development for gene therapies and in cancer immune therapy, design experiments under direction of the Principal Investigator, and execute the experimental plan in an independent manner. The incumbent will conduct data analysis and prepare data
presentations; train, orient, and supervise new lab staff, students, and trainees; oversee the technical aspects and design of projects/studies; prepare progress reports for the PI; author or co-author publications; and assist with the preparation of grant submissions and reports.
Responsibilities

• Prepare progress reports for the PI and assist in the preparation of grant submission.
• Educate, train, and supervise new students and research staff that assist in the project.
• Meet regularly with Principal Investigator (PI) and other colleagues to review lab data, troubleshoot problems, prioritize tasks, and discuss newly published scientific literature relevant to the cell and gene therapy field.
• Perform routine and complex research laboratory techniques, including sterile cell culture, molecular biology, and small rodent handling.
• Operate basic laboratory equipment such as centrifuge, pH meter, analytical balance, scintillation counter, spectrophotometer, light microscope, and/or utilizes laminar flow hood. May also utilize and operate other sophisticated instrumentation such as fluorescence and luminescence spectrophotometer.
• Keep the laboratory prepared for safety inspections.
• Independently process and analyze data, formulate conclusions, and create appropriate statistical visualizations (such as graphs and charts) for the purpose of reporting research/laboratory results, grant reports, or scientific presentations.

Qualifications
EDUCATION:

• Master’s degree in the field of biology, biochemistry, or related field is required.
• PhD in related field is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 5 years of related research experience, including administration of standardized
assessments required.
