Job Summary


The Staff Mentor is responsible to continually monitor and oversee residential and day program milieu to identify areas of concern areas requiring additional support and attention.


  • 3 years’ experience working in a residential setting serving individual with developmental disabilities.
  • Actively assist in crisis intervention to support staff and facilitate appropriate de-escalation techniques.
  • Responsibilities also include providing initial “on the job” training and support to newly hired direct care staff and to provide mentoring and education throughout their probationary period.
  • Support staff in the implementation of programs and activities; model and support active engagement.
  • Direct care experience must include one year experience at Woods Services.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Communicate areas of concern fir resolution.
  • Work with new employees to orient them to job expectations/standards.
  • Maintain objective observations of the milieu to identify stressors.
  • In conjunction with management, this role is responsible to train and support staff in the development of therapeutic skills to provide active engagement, de-escalation, and problem solve difficult situations as they arise.
  • Direct care experience must include one year experience at Woods Services.
  • Serve as a mentor as needed.
  • Actively available to facilitate and coordinate needed breaks
  • Residential Treatment Facility (RTF) requires 2 employment verifications and/or references, 12 behavioral health semester credit hours and 2 years of direct care experience with children/adolescents.
  • Further responsibilities include developing and maintaining mentor relationships with all direct care staff to support.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
