A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A STAFF EARTH SCIENTIST


As a Staff Scientist your hard work ensures that we deliver for our clients. Under the supervision of a Project Manager, you provide support on a wide range of environmental, energy, and mine site projects including: installation of borings and construction of wells, collection of soil and water samples (both surface water and groundwater), remediation system operation and maintenance, and water and wastewater monitoring and operation. The primary job function will be to support the Reno, NV office. Field work is completed as needed to drive project execution and ensure that appropriate health and safety procedures are being followed.


People skills are essential as you interact regularly with contractors, regulators, and clientele. Though some time is spent in the Reno, NV office, preparing project reports and completing routine administrative tasks, you are also responsible to conduct field activities such as seeps and spring monitoring, well sampling, and soil sample collection. Collected field data is summarized in reports and presented to Project Managers. Qualifications For Earth Scientist


  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Environmental Science, or other earth science related field
  • Technical writing competency
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Ability to work consecutive long days in the field under varying adverse weather conditions (hot, cold, windy, and sometimes wet)
  • Self-starter, quick learner and effective communicator
