This position is a non-supervisory, unclassified position, in the Payroll section of the Office of Accounting Services. The primary purpose of this position is the review of salary expenditures, Payroll Ledger reconciliation, maintenance of the salary encumbrance process, process and request payment for various internal and external vendors, create and submit monthly labor statistics, review and approve accounting adjustments monitored by Payroll, process miscellaneous inter-company billing, take care of various month-end and year-end accounting processes.
35% Prepares Cross-Campus billing, and AG Staff Benefit entries Quarterly. Makes appropriate journal entries for multi campus employee benefits. Requests Supervising Teacher payments as needed. Request payments or make appropriate entries for various internal and external vendors for employee deductions. Assists with the monthly ORP/TRSL retirement adjustments as well as the monthly transmittal of employee and employer contributions withheld from employees paycheck.
25% Balances payroll pay components, single day meals and payroll clearing on a monthly basis. Communicates needed corrections to the responsible party.
20% Monitors all general ledger clearing accounts and makes journal voucher entries for balancing as needed. Creates and Submits required labor statistics report annually and monthly.
10% Responsible for the annual accrual of salary expenditures at fiscal year end. Monitors all fiscal year end reports and generates required transfers. Balances fiscal year end payroll pay components to the check file and general ledger at end of month and final fiscal year end cut off.
5% Processes monthly journals and balances ledgers at the end of the month for miscellaneous payroll deductions withheld from employees paychecks.
5% Performs other duties as assigned by Payroll supervisors, managers, directors or Associate Vice President of Accounting Services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or business related field; 24 hours college accounting; 2 years of directly applicable professional experience can be substituted for 24 hours of Accounting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting; knowledge of Workday HCM, Payroll, and FIN in addition to some mainframe applications for historical information; payroll experience. Proficient in the use of computers with advance MS Office skills, Experience using standard accounting principles, proven verbal and written communication skills. Detail oriented: organization skills and multi-tasking capabilities.
