Job Description
What to Expect
The Factory Software team at Tesla is building applications to enable manufacturing and material flow management with great focus on reliability, availability, scalability, speed and security. We're a diverse team composed of Software Engineers and various other disciplines that help facilitate automated manufacturing and material flow processes.
We are seeking a highly motivated, dependable, and experienced Senior SRE to join our Factory Software team. You will be responsible for ensuring that our integrated/distributed systems are working as expected by implementing proper monitoring tools and techniques to detect issues before they become a production problem. You will be expected to also have intimate knowledge of Docker and/or Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, logging and monitoring tools, and a deep understanding of multi layered and distributed systems. Experience in DB performance tuning is a great plus.
What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for applications and services uptime.
  • Author technical documentation for workflows/processes/best practices.
  • Monitor performance and provide recommendation for improvements, continuous improvement is key.
  • Deploy, configure, manage, and automate CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Github Actions and Git for version control.
  • Comfortable working on an on-call schedule to support different shops.
  • Ensure proper monitoring, logging, and alerting is set in place for critical integrated systems.
  • Integrate factory software with various types of equipment, systems, and people.
What You’ll Bring
  • 5+ years’ experience the Linux OS.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a high-level language such as Go, Python and/or Java.
  • 5+ years’ experience integrating manufacturing or material flow systems.
  • 5+ years’ Experience using Git.
  • 5+ years’ experience with SQL (MySQL, Postgres, MSSQL)
  • Strong bias for action vs endless planning, willing to get hands dirty and make mistakes sometimes
  • Working knowledge of Networking (TCP/IP and Application).
  • 5+ years’ experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • 5+ years’ experience using CI/CD tools like Jenkins, Github Actions, ArgoCD.
  • 5+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing or material flow setting.
  • Willing to mentor other team members and engineers with less SWE/IT type knowledge.
  • Authoring technical documentation for workflows/processes/best practices.
  • Take part in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Able to drive live troubleshooting of issues on NOC bridges/outage calls.
