Job Duties
We are looking to add a Temporary Senior Oracle Database Administrator to our Enterprise Database team. This team supports both Operational and Project work. This team interacts directly with key technical groups, collaborating to implement new features and automation for major databases systems that deliver data to the critical, revenue generating applications that drive our organization. These systems rely on Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database software running on various versions of Windows and Linux operating systems. This will be a hybrid schedule, in office three days a week (Mon-Wed).
Provide primary support for Oracle and SQL Server databases
Troubleshoot, investigate, and drive resolution of incidents
Work with technical teams during incident resolution and root cause analysis
Coordinate interaction with vendors, creating service requests and escalating to ensure resolution
Provide problem management and resolution for repeat issues
Recommend and contribute to design and development of long-term solutions
Respond to inquiries related to performance, application errors, storage capacity, etc.
Review and execute changes including database configuration changes, patching, and upgrades
Participate in new system builds
Adhere to documented change and incident management policies
Stay current on features and functionality of SQL Server and Oracle databases, focusing on technology to improve performance, availability, reliability, stability, and work efficiencies
Translate technical solutions/problems into clear language useful to audiences at varying technical levels
Prepare technical documentation and present to interested parties
Provide on-call support for SQL Server databases
Participate in various strategic and operational projects
Qualifications
5+ years’ experience supporting various Oracle versions on Linux and Windows OS
5+ years’ experience with Exadata, Data Guard, RMAN, OEM, Shell scripting
Strong quantitative, analytical, communication and verbal skills with a strong customer service focus
Ability to problem solve in high pressure situations
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently toward assigned goals
Preferred 2+ years’ experience with SQL Server database Support
Preferred 2+ years’ experience with PeopleSoft, ServiceNow, SQL Sentry, IBM Spectrum Protect (TDP), Splunk
Preferred 2+ years in a development or support organization supporting large applications
