Job Description

Summary

Leads internal audit projects according to the audit plan throughout the Ministry, including risk assessment, audit performance, follow-up and ongoing communication of risks, results and mitigation efforts. Develops appropriate documentation to support audit work performed. Responsible for ongoing communication and collaboration with key partners including (but not limited to) Corporate Responsibility, Legal, Finance, IT and Revenue Cycle. Primary responsibility will be 340B Drug Discount Program and other Pharmacy risk areas.

Essential Job Functions

  • Conducts independent audits according to the audit plan and develops appropriate documentation to support audit work performed.
  • Measures and tracks the results of audits performed through action plan follow-up procedures.
  • Supervises staff; reviews and approves audit workpaper documentation.
  • Communicates and prepares meeting agendas and status reports to facilitate discussion with immediate supervisor and upper management about audit activities in progress and emerging issues in a timely and proactive manner.
  • Assists in the preparation of audit reports for presentations to management and governance; may present findings to management as appropriate.
  • Prepares reports to management of findings and proposed action plans for each audit.
  • Assists in risk assessment process and preparation of audit plan that focuses on high-risk areas.
  • Displays a commitment to excellence, accuracy and thoroughness in all activities, and searches for ways to improve and promote quality.
  • Manages the 340B Internal Audit Plan and Internal Audit’s relationship with 340B Leadership.
  • Keeps current on Internal Audit and 340B industry trends and areas of interest through utilization of industry research and knowledge resources.

Employment Job Qualifications

Education:

Required Minimum Education: Undergraduate Degree

Specialty/Major: Bachelor’s degree. business, accounting or related area.

Licensure/Certification:

Licensure/Certification Preferred

340B Apexus Certified Expert (340B ACE); Professional Certification or working toward obtaining certification within two years of assuming position (CPA, CIA, CISA or Coding certification).

Minimum Years and Type of Experience Required: Five to seven years previous audit and/or 340B experience.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Mental agility and strong communication skills regarding risk management and internal control issues. Ability to understand broad enterprise risks in a complex health system beyond traditional financial audit and controls. Knowledge of and experience with the 340B Drug Discount Program.

Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred

Solid analytical skills with the ability to look at the big picture impact; experience with project management a plus. Experience with databases or electronic work papers; preferably an audit automated work paper system.

Working Conditions

  • General office environment.
  • Prolonged periods of working alone.
  • May have periods of constant interruptions.
  • Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions.
  • Periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads may occur
  • Long-distance or air travel as needed- not to exceed 10% travel.
