Job Description

This Healthcare Operations Analyst role is responsible for providing analytical support and guidance to leaders related to operational effectiveness and efficiency. This role will specifically focus on supporting questions and projects around clinical productivity, including clinical support staff, nursing, physicians, and other types of health care providers. The ideal incumbent will have experience in hospital operations, staffing models, and/or productivity measures, as well as experience in guiding data-driven decision-making. This role will have significant exposure to and interaction with organizational business leaders, as well as members of the Executive Management Team.

This role will support productivity management and workforce planning, which will improve the quality and capacity for care at Connecticut Children's Medical Center. This position is currently vacant.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

This position reports directly to the Director of Enterprise Analytics and will support other key members of the Leadership team to:

  • Develop and maintain various analyses and reports to evaluate performance and growth opportunities
  • Collaborate with business leaders to optimize their productivity, working to learn their workflows and structure that drives the data, as well as suggest improvement strategies based on process/performance improvement methods
  • Prepare, maintain, and present analyses for ad-hoc requests for hospital senior leadership as necessary
  • Prepare/assist with the preparation of monthly and on-demand operational reports
  • Act as a liaison for all levels of leadership to help them navigate available operational data sources
  • Prepare the standard reports monitoring productivity across departments and cost centers, flagging any abnormalities for review
  • Maintain data submissions to external platforms, including working with clinical leaders to ensure mappings are up-to-date and roles are appropriately defined and mapped
  • Support position review requests by leveraging benchmarking platforms and internal reports
  • Present findings to leadership

The incumbent must be able to work both within teams and independently, with limited guidance and support, to influence outcomes.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in healthcare setting required
  • Experience with benchmarking or measuring clinical productivity preferred
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative/analytical discipline required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and ability to engage with a wide variety of audiences
  • Ability to work with and learn multiple benchmarking platforms (Sullivan Cotter, PROSPECT, Sg2, MGMA)
  • Ability to multitask, meet deadlines, follow-up on and quickly reprioritize issues
  • Ability to work with all levels of the organization including management and physicians
  • Preferred experience with Qlik or Tableau
  • Must be capable of operating at both the strategic and tactical level
  • Preferred experience with Lean or Six Sigma process improvement methodologies
  • Familiarity with basic statistical methods
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with limited direction and manage multiple priorities
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Expertly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
  • Comfort manipulating, interpreting, and summarizing observations from large data sets
