Job Description
The Role:
Reporting to the Senior Director of Engineering, this position will be the subject matter expert (SME) for electrical engineering for Moderna Norwood Campus. The candidate will lead electrical engineering for the Facilities at the Moderna Norwood Campus.
Here’s What You’ll Do:
  • Review literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
  • Perform/support a variety of Field and Customer activities including data collection, one-line revisions, and electrical system analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and guidelines such as ISPE Baseline Guides, USP, EU GMP, ISO standards and CFR’s.
  • Provide technical engineering support to develop scope of work, project execution plans, and associated engineering studies for equipment / component installation, modification, replacement, in accordance with site specifications.
  • Support proactive reliability assessments including data collection, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), HAZOP analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  • Responsible for utility specification development.
  • Review and upgrade project specifications and drawings for electrical construction work. Work with representatives, architects, and consultant engineers to develop optimum cost and benefits to the utility and building systems for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Provide technical support for equipment and process improvement initiatives using good engineering practices, simple & advanced problem-solving techniques.
  • Coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff.
  • Provide good judgment and innovation by utilizing and adapting a broad knowledge of engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience.
  • Leverage data to optimize PM plans and materials of construction for robust asset performance.
  • Evaluate vendor capabilities to provide required products or services.
  • Lead and coordinate Facility / Utility Shutdown efforts to complete planned preventive / corrective maintenance and capital projects to improve asset reliability.
  • Conduct investigations or test of considerable complexity pertaining to the development of new designs, methods and materials.
  • Assist with implementing strategies and methods that improve preventive maintenance processes and procedures resulting in enhanced equipment performance.
  • Recommend corrections in technical analysis and design.
  • Plan, conduct and technically direct projects or the major phases of significant projects.
  • Assists in establishing an efficient project schedule for project team that ensures appropriate use of resources while adhering to aggressive deadlines.
  • Drive Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), with good engineering practices and problem solving techniques.
  • Provide technical consultation to other organizations and work leadership for junior engineers.
Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field required.
  • Minimum 8 years of Facilities and/or Engineering experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industries required.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience leading a design team.
  • Requires expert knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Comprehension of practical applications of engineering science and technology.
  • Expert use of analytical and CAD software.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
