Position Overview

The Senior Data Scientist performs complex data analysis to support Marketing and eComm operations. This role will develop and implement reactive, predictive and prescriptive modeling techniques, while also performing custom statistical reporting and analysis based on organization need. The role will mentor fellow data analysts to implement state of the art modeling techniques appropriate to meet the business objectives. The focus of the Data Scientist is to support the Marketing and eComm teams, spanning business, brand, social, media, customer and eComm data sets.

Responsibilities

• Research existing and emerging data science principles, theories and techniques to best inform business decisions.
• Develops correlation / causation models to support ROI and incrementality calculations.
• Partner with team to design, size, monitor and scale testing experiments, collect external data, correlate with a variety of internal data sources, develop models to analyze data to generate insights, and communicate findings to key stakeholders
• Maintains models that support the Marketing and eComm business, including customer segmentation (behavioral), LTV, channel affiliation and churn.
• Ensures accuracy of statistical reporting, interpretation of data analyses to generate insights, and creation of data visualizations, used to better understand client relationships and improve client services and product offerings.
• Leverages machine learning and other relevant statistical techniques to identify business performance improvement opportunities to drive favorable outcome.
• Drives data driven decision making by interpreting the analyses and communicating actionable insights
• Reviews the data modeling, statistical reporting, and data analysis completed by lower-level Data Analysts, providing coaching and feedback as needed
• Develops and implements data mining protocols, and models as well as data analysis methodologies to identify trends in large data sets that answer business critical questions.

Qualifications

• Strategic thinking, excellent writing and professional editing skills.
• 7+ years of experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL), scripting languages (e.g. Python), and/or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R)
• Self-starter and positive performer who can flex when priorities change, collaborate with cross functional partners, contribute to the team’s overall success
• Technical expertise with quantitative analysis, experimentation, A/B testing, regression, data mining, and the presentation of data to develop strategies
• Experience working with large and complex data sets to solve a wide array of challenging problems using different analytical and statistical approaches.
• Previous experience working with media and marketing data sets preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field Minimum 5 years’ experience in marketing, advertising and/or retail Luxury brand experience a plus.
• Ability to manage end-to-end experimental design implementation: identify parameters, determine success metrics, perform data validation, monitor progress and derive insights.

Estimated Salary Range

$175,000 - $195,000

Base pay is one component of David Yurman’s total compensation package, which may also include the following for eligible employees: access to healthcare benefits, 401(k) plan, bonus, employee discounts, Summer Fridays (corporate roles), generous paid time off, sick time, and more.
