Job Summary


The Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer is a change agent, challenging organizational leaders to drive opportunities for continuous improvements and remove barriers to progress. This position plays an important role in fostering a culture of sustainable change through the implementation of lean and six sigma methodology and the supporting framework, to deliver business transformation. The CI Engineer is repsonsible for defining, designing and implementing continuous improvement programs, as well as ensuring the programs are successfully integrated across the plant and strong workforce engagement is built.


Essential Job Functions


List essential job functions that comprise the job:


  • Execute lean manufacturing initiatives including set-up reduction, workplace organization, standardized work, process / workflow improvements, visual management, and inventory reduction.
  • May also perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Implement tools and metrics to improve visibility to operational health and lean performance:
  • Identify, define, and champion improvement projects aligned with the business strategies. Analyze improvement programs and results.
  • Facilitate Value Stream mapping and Value Stream transformation activites.
  • Employ lean methodology including, but not limited to, 5S, Visual Management, A3 thinking, standard work, and waste identification. Implement and follow through on reinforcement strategies.
  • Develop, track, and communicate metrics, as required.
  • Lead Kaizen events, including data collection and analysis, documentation, and coordinating follow-up action plan to ensure work is completed and improvements have provided the expected result.
  • Prepare reports, summaries, or presentations with improvement recommendations and activities
  • Provide training and coach teammates on continuous improvement methods and initiatives, to build strong workforce engagement.


Required Qualifications

  • Other Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in on-on-one and in group settings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to influence change and build engagement
  • 3+ years of work experience leading and utilizing lean and six sigma tools
  • Experience leading and managing projects
  • Knowledge of budgeting, cost controls and quality control standards.
  • Experience:
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with teammates and cross-functional teams at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work independently, with urgency and self-direction to meet deadlines
  • Education:
  • Application of change management concepts
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Chemical, Quality or related field); Significant related work experience in lieu of degree may be considered.
  • 3+ years experience in an industrial or a manufacturing environment


Desired Qualifications

  • Industrial or Mechanial Engineering Bachelors degree
  • Lean Six-Sigma green or black belt certified
  • Experience working within an FDA/ISO regulated industry.
  • Knowledge or experience working in high speed manufacturing
  • Statistical analysis skills (Minitab or other statistical software)


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Work schedule is projected to be typical business hours. Some work might be required on night shifts and weekends as business needs dictate.
  • Office setting and on manufacturing floor.
  • Working Environment:
  • Some occasional travel may be required for project or training related needs .
  • Hourly & Salary teammates, temporary contractors and regulatory agencies.
  • Works independently and collaboratively with operations, maintenance, engineering, quality and HSES.

The salary range for this position is $84,000 - $126,000. The actual base salary offered to a candidate may vary based upon factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance.
