ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Present yourself professionally and respectfully both in your dress and manner to all persons to whom you come in contact.
- Create an environment that facilitates the achievement of Youth Development Outcomes of our Sport, Fitness, and Recreational programs.
- Maintain a safe environment for our members to learn, engage and participate.
- Plan and implement Triple Play activities.
- Coach all site athletic teams
- Effectively implement and administer programs, services and activities providing our members the full Club experience.
- Provide guidance and role modeling to members.
- Assists with program components for the purpose of delivering services that conform to established guidelines.
- Coordinate facilities/equipment use with staff, community partners & others.
- Maintains equipment, work area, youth files/records, taking attendance, checking homework, for the purpose of ensuring availability of items and/or providing reliable information.
- Communicates policies and enforcement procedures to program participants, for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
- Reports observations and incidents (e.g. discipline, accidents, inappropriate social behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate personnel.
- Monitors individual program participants group, library, recreational activities etc. for the purpose of ensuring a safe and positive environment.
- Administers standards of behavior and discipline for the purpose of ensuring the safety and well being of youth.
- Assists program participants with homework assignments and make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the instructional process.
- Plans appropriate daily activities to be approved by the Unit Director for the following week.
- Collaborates with the Unit Director for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programs.
- Prepares documents in standardized formats for the purpose of providing written documentation and/or conveying information.
- Assists program participants, individually or in groups, with lesson assignments for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
Internal and External Relationships:
- Initiate and maintain positive communication with school principals and classroom teachers.
- Maintain contact with parents or guardians in order to communicate about Club activities, explain or interpret Club guidelines, and address any conduct issues relative to Members.
- Maintain close contact with Club staff to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working under limited supervision using standardized procedures; and leading, guiding, and/or coordinating activities of others.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Job related experience working with children in an instructional setting.
- Ability to work with the general public (both verbal and written)
- Knowledge of youth development.
- Experience working with children.
- Complete at least two years of post secondary study at an institution of higher education, (48 credit hours) or obtain an associate’s or higher degree, or meet a standard of quality and demonstrate, through a state test, the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and math.
- Ability to motivate children and youth and manage behavior problems.
- CPR/First Aid Certification, preferred.
- Experience planning and implementing quality programs for youth.
- Ability to organize and supervise children in a safe environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

- Some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling;
- Some climbing and balancing;
- Some stooping, kneeling, sitting, crouching, and/or crawling;
- Significant finger dexterity.
- This position is performed under minimal temperature variations, in a generally hazard-free environment, and in varying atmospheric conditions.
- Generally, the job requires 40% sitting and 60% walking and standing.
