Position Responsibilities:

• Evaluates patients regarding the application of a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech language hearing and oral motor disorders.
• Completes and encourages patients to complete the FOTO (Focus on Therapeutic Outcomes) for admission progress and discharge within departmental policies and procedures in a timely manner.
• Participates in Performance Improvement projects.
• Performs evaluations with special attention to receptive and expressive language skills speech fluency vocal and oral motor competence articulation and auditory skills.
• Documents test results and recommends remedial treatments.
• Updates patient's progress and goals as evidenced by appropriate documentation.
• Performs thorough assessment of patient's functional conditions to set plan of treatment with appropriate short and long-term goals.
• Examines tests diagnoses and administers remedial treatments for patients with speech and hearing disorders.
• Works in conjunction with Supervisor / Manager to agree on treatment utilizing corrective exercises and special equipment.
• Initiates and/or completes patient assessment following time frames established in departmental guidelines to determine treatment required and completes documentation as observed by supervisor or during chart review.
• Participates in the clinical education program (student program) as reported by the coordinator for clinical education
• Supervises activities of support personnel as authorized by supervisor.
• Gives at least one in-service annually to staff.
• Documents charges with each initial evaluation and daily treatment as appropriate and as observed by supervisor and other department personnel.
• Modifies treatment approach based on patient's reaction to it and reassesses outcome as observed by supervisor.
• Records speech samples and conducts phonetic analyses of speech ability.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Speech Pathology Therapy Program in accordance with state licensing requirements. Has taken or is willing to take postgraduate education.
• CPR certification.
• Current Florida State SLP License.
• Specific vocational preparation of over 4 years up to 10 years = skilled work.
