Job Description
Job Summary
The Speech and Language Pathologist I will be responsible for:
  • The appropriate candidate has extensive experience in evaluation and treatment of autistic individuals with complex communication needs.
  • Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Detailed knowledge of current assistive technology and no-tech to high tech solutions is required in addition to understanding a broad scope of strategies to support functional communication and language learning for persons with ASD.
  • Interviews and counsels families and patients regarding communication disorders.
  • Conducting AAC related research and/or developing AAC related projects within the scope of this clinical position is encouraged.
  • Contributes to teamwork within own department and other departments.
  • Performs communication evaluations, including tests of comprehension, production and motor speech functioning.
  • Clinicians in the ALP are strongly encouraged to develop their own areas of clinical interest related to assessment and intervention that supports the mission of the program
  • Plans and implements case management, follow up, and referral for patients.
  • Documents and reports the results of communication evaluations.
  • Boston Children’s Hospital Autism Language Program (ALP) is seeking a full-time ASHA Certified Speech-Language Pathologist with Massachusetts Licensing or license qualified who specializes in Augmentative and Alternative Communication with a focus on autism.

To qualify, you must have:
  • This position may require working one Saturday per month in clinic.
  • Work requires the knowledge of theories, principles, and concepts typically acquired through completion of a Master's degree in Speech Pathology or a closely related field and no previous experience plus three to six months of time on the job.
  • While this is for a certified SLP, highly qualified Clinical Fellows may be considered.
  • Work requires communication skills in order to effectively deal with conflicting views.
  • Work requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data in order to solve problems OR design relatively complex systems and programs.

Start date is immediate, ideally 2 weeks from acceptance!
