City on a Hill is one of Massachusetts’ first charter schools with the upcoming 2023-2024 school year being our 28th year of operation. As we prepare for another school year, City on a Hill is seeking dedicated educators and operations staff to support the empowerment of our students.


Role Description


As a member of the City on a Hill Charter Public Specialized Services Team, the Specialized Services Coordinator will act as a key support in ensuring smooth operation of the department through administrative and programmatic support. This role will report directly to the Director of Specialized Services.


Program Coordination


  • Manage remote student services, including virtual speech therapy and Applied Behavior Analysis therapy and
  • Under the supervision of the Director of Specialized Services, manage student IEP scheduling and documentation
  • Coordinate and, as appropriate, deliver professional development sessions to Specialized Services Department staff;
  • Track and support appropriate licensure across the Specialized Services Department, in collaboration with the Human Resources Department;
  • Collaborate with Director of Specialized Services to ensure that our programming meets or exceeds the standards put forth by the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) and other applicable regulations;
  • Act as point of contact for all CoaH families supported by the Specialized Services department and, when necessary, escalating issues to the appropriate School Leadership Team member.


Administrative Support


  • Coordinate supports for students across departments, including Specialized Services, Deans and Conselor’s Office, and School Leadership; and
  • Manage departmental follow-up in collaboration with the Director of Specialized Services;
  • Ensure rapid and smooth scheduling of all internal and external department meetings, including IEP and other family meetings;
  • Collaborate with Data and Systems Manager to ensure proper tracking of all applicable student data into various student information systems (SIS);
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Specialized Services.


Required Qualifications


  • A belief that all students can and must learn at high levels and a commitment to your own continued learning, particularly as it relates to City on a Hill’s journey to operating as an anti-racist school;
  • Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, or a related field


Preferred Qualifications


  • Familiarity with PowerSchool, Deanslist, or other related SIS software;
  • Previous experience working with students who receive special services and/or managing student files and documentation
