WFYI’s Specialist, Engagement Marketing ensures that the station’s key stakeholders – audiences, donors and more – can connect with public media content in meaningful and revenue-supporting ways. This position implements event plans, digital engagement, guides colleagues in creating on-brand experiences, and utilizes multi-platform virtual and real-life engagement tools to attract, activate and retain our audiences. Relying on a mix of protocol and innovation, this role is an essential element in guiding audiences to deeper relationships, as well as creating meaningful and often joyful connections to our content.

This position is part of the WFYI marketing team, a group with a collaborative and collective focus on meeting audiences where they are, activating their interests and nurturing their philanthropic desire to support the mission of public media. This team works with partners both within and beyond WFYI, and positive, strategic project management defines the approach to our work.

WFYI is Central Indiana’s leading non-commercial media outlet and its NPR and PBS station. We are meeting today’s unique moment, as audiences shift to on-demand content consumption and have a variety of news and entertainment options, with a commitment to serve and to connect with both long-time and emergent audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contribute to member affinity group engagement strategies, working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and nurturing these high-interest groups toward greater engagement.
  • Collaborates with social media and public relations teams supporting station audience and marketing goals.
  • Create core strategies around events, social media, and content to cultivate and nurture key stakeholders, with a focus on both existing and emergent audiences.
  • Manage budgets, logistics, vendor relationships, promotion, ticketing, and complete audience experience related to areas of responsibility.
  • Promotes station understanding of the “the WFYI way” with events and social media initiatives, including core values, protocols and checklists to create shared understanding among WFYI staff.
  • Collaborate with clarity with internal and external partners.
  • Provide team support for the Economic Club of Indiana speaker series.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience in social media management and/or external communications.
  • Demonstrated partner and vendor relationship management skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to create clarity, strategy and build excitement within a team.
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, public relations, communications or related field.
  • Flexibility to work evening or weekend hours.
  • 3-5 years of experience in event management, nonprofit marketing, public media fundraising or related field.
