Job Description


Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of students with special needs? Are you a dedicated and experienced Special Education Teacher looking for an exciting opportunity in Colorado Springs, Colorado? We have an opening for a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our dynamic team.


Responsibilities


  • Provide direct instruction to students, adapting teaching strategies to accommodate various learning needs.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports.
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
  • Utilize assistive technology and other resources to enhance student learning and participation.
  • Create and deliver engaging and effective instructional lessons based on students' abilities and learning styles.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes social and emotional development.
  • Attend professional development sessions and stay up-to-date with best practices in special education.
  • Collaborate with the school's multidisciplinary team to develop and implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and support students' social-emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure the inclusion and success of students with special needs in the general education curriculum.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Experience working with students with diverse needs, including but not limited to learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and emotional/behavioral disorders.
  • Valid Colorado teaching license with an endorsement in Special Education.
  • Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support the academic and social development of students with special needs.
