Job Description
Job Summary
Performs quality ultrasound examinations. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology sufficient to be able to position and monitor patients and obtain appropriate images. Skill in interpreting and applying written guidelines, precedents, and work practices to standardized work situations or specific cases. Skill in using ultrasound equipment. Understands and is able to reasonably troubleshoot all necessary equipment and ensures notification of appropriate personnel when problems occur. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, organizations and the public. Performs all non-invasive tests and conducts routinely scheduled studies. Skill in interpreting and applying written guidelines, precedents and work practices to standardized work situations or specific cases. Skill in recognizing non-standardized situations and preparing recommendations for problem resolution. Skill in using the practices and principles of effective and persuasive communications. Ensures the integrity of data for clinical elements, demographics, billing information for physician reports. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must show a high degree of judgment and skill in the use of US equipment and related technology.
Knowledge of how to address age-specific care needs of patients.
Demonstrated technical skill sets in the performance of US imaging studies.
Effective interpersonal skill sets that lead to productive communications and collaborations.
Competency in interpreting physician order requests for US imaging studies.
Ability to exercise prudent judgment in selecting and configuring equipment settings to compensate for patient physiologic variances.
Ability to consistently produce quality images of various anatomical structures.

Education
  • Completion of noninvasive sonography approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
Experience
  • Preferably, 1 year of professional work experience in performing ultrasound (US) imaging studies.
Credentials

  • Current certification in Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider (CPR).
  • Registry as a sonographer in subspecialty(s) appropriate to the position by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) within 6 months of hire.
