We are currently hiring Software Engineers in the Washington D.C. and Minneapolis, MN areas.

Summary

We are looking for accomplished Software Engineers to join the Learning and Active Perception (LEAP) group in AV’s MacCready Works division to develop a variety of innovative computer vision detection, classification, localization, and tracking solutions for defense and commercial applications.

As a Software Engineer, one works with and is mentored by a talented group of engineers to design and develop software solutions to meet customer requirements.

Position Responsibilities

• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action; builds productive internal/external working relationships
• Delivers work on time according to agreed completion dates and project schedule & budget
• Supports and derives algorithm design from detailed software requirements
• Creates software design documentation according to software process requirements and guidance from Senior Engineers
• Implements coding according to coding standard; writes a unique test and validates software according to the process; contributes to process improvement efforts.
• Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors
• Operates in a continuous learning environment under moderate supervision; provides guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
• Supports testing and demonstration of components and integrated systems
• Develops documentation, technical reports, and provides report inputs for presentation to customers and other stakeholders
• Implements and optimizes algorithms and software including REST endpoints, relational database schemas, and user interface components

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

• Experience with Ubuntu and/or CentOS Linux operating systems
• Experience with relational database systems such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
• Experienced writing unit tests and debugging code
• 2 - 5 years of relevant experience software engineering or related field Strong software engineering skills with proficiency in C/C++, Java, Golang, and/or Python languages, including a sound understanding of common data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, and development workflows
• Demonstrated mathematical and analytical skills are required
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, or Physics is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Demonstrated familiarity with source code configuration management tools such as SVN and Git as well as familiarity with IDEs and debuggers

• Is committed to learning from mistakes and driven to improve and enhance performance of oneself, others, and the company
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, where small teams share a broad variety of duties

The salary range for this role is:

$86,400 - $129,600

Special Requirement: U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a clearance is required due to contract requirements.
