Role Description & Responsibilities

  • Provide ongoing maintenance, support and enhancements in existing systems and platforms
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, business users, project managers and other engineers to achieve highly scalable and stable solutions
  • Proactively seeks new tools and frameworks that can improve products/ platforms
  • Design and develop a service-based architecture for our backend platform using various development technologies
  • Test software development methodology in an agile environment
  • Seeks other software engineers to implement best practices to solving complex technical issues
  • Architect solutions to scale using engineering and design principles
  • Provides clear communication of own needs and requirements to optimize productivity
  • Provides technical guidance in estimating work in complexity and time
  • Expert in JAVA, Springboot, (Good to have NodeJS and ReactJS experience)
  • Solid knowledge of the DevOps tools, AWS services and noSQL databases like MongoDB, Messaging
  • Analyze, design, and develop tests and test-automation suites

Required Skills, Experience & Qualities

  • You make an impact on the whole team, not just on specific parts of it

  • Go-to person for one or more technologies and take initiative to learn new ones
  • Subscription Commerce or Ecommerce Experience: You have demonstrable experience working in subscription or ecommerce, especially in the areas of payments, billing, fulfillment, order management and partner integrations
  • Design and implement medium to large size features while reducing the system’s tech debt
  • Proactively support other team members and help them to be successful
  • Modern API Design: You have built out APIs using Node.js, cloud-managed services, and influenced engineering teams on best practices in these areas
  • Cloud and Platform Experience: You have built or significantly added to/upgraded a cloud-based software platform using an API and front-end, ideally in different VPCs or networks that interact via HTTPS
  • Research-based Decision Maker: You can speak to and show multiple times where you have built upon the learnings of others to avoid “reinventing the wheel,” whether through use of open-source projects, established community best practices or other similar veins
