The Stanford Medicine Technology and Digital Solutions team was formed to provide the Stanford Medicine community with the most innovative technology services as efficiently as possible. Led by Michael Pfeffer, CIO and Michael Halaas, Chief Operating Officer and Associate Dean in the School of Medicine, the unified organization brings together the best of the School of Medicine and Stanford Health Care IT to enable new opportunities for groundbreaking work and compassionate care. Together, the Technology and Digital Solutions team will work to break down historic organizational barriers to enable even greater collaboration across Stanford Medicine hospital and clinics, and the entire University.
Stanford Healthcare is looking for Software Architects to join our Back-End teams.
The ideal candidate will have experience as a Software Architect at an expert level. 10+ years of experience in a back-end software development environment serving as a technical lead designing and architecting back-end services to serve mobile and web clients. Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Frameworks, Tomcat web services, MongoDB requires. AWS cloud experience a plus.

A Brief Overview
The Software Engineer is responsible for building or testing the front-end / back-end / mobile interface for web applications or software tools at Stanford Health Care. This position will collaborate on design issues with a diverse group of product managers, designers, engineers, and infrastructure teams to build and deliver robust front and back end solutions that showcase the SHC's brand while providing a high-quality experience for users. This position should have a complete understand of web development.
The Software Architect is responsible for building, designing and implementing high-volume, scalable and fault-tolerant end servers in support of the Information Technology cloud initiative at Stanford Health Care. This position is a key member of SHC's Technology leadership team, mentoring and engaging engineers to deliver innovative designs and development methodologies. The Software Architect directly interacts with internal/external stakeholders and works with the leadership team to help define solutions and architectural roadmap.

What you will do

  • Gathers functional requirements to generate technical design specifications.
  • Develops websites, performs unit testing, implementation, and production application support.
  • Participates in troubleshooting problems related to user interaction, webpage performance & mobile web optimization.
  • Develops functional prototypes from wireframes and mockups, and create proper documentation.
  • Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  • Hands on technical role; contributes to all phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, implementation, and QA.
  • Determines systems software design requirements.
  • Follows industry trends with regard to front-end technologies and techniques.
  • Works with stakeholders to understand and document software requirements, and ensure application UI meets functional requirements.
  • O Android Developers – Latest Android stack
  • Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools, and utilities.
  • Creates and improves infrastructure to address system performance, security, maintainability, and scalability of SHC’s products.
  • O Backend Developers – Java, Phyton, .Net – SQl and No SQL DBs
  • O Front end Developers - implements and provides production application support in products and public-facing web applications and back-end servers systems using HTML/ XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript , following Web standards and promoting user experience best practices.
  • Depending on Specialization the Software Engineer need to be proficient in the relevant technology stack:
  • Collaborates with stakeholders and software engineers to refine and improve the user experience.
  • O iOS Develops – iOS technologies
  • Other duties as required.
  • Follows specifications to implement high fidelity visual and UX designs.
  • Generate systems software engineering policies, standards and procedures.
  • Helps to develop processes and select frameworks and tools for web content management and web application development.


Education Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Design or a directly-related field from an accredited college or university Master’s degree preferred


Experience Qualifications

  • 10+ years of directly related experience.

  • Ability to accurately communicate complex technical abstractions
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structure, web technologies, protocols, and cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Knowledge of front end optimization and performance techniques
  • Ability to develop web sites for multiple contexts (mobile, tablet, desktop, etc.) and multiple locales
  • Knowledge of front end optimization and performance techniques
  • Expert knowledge of front end browser technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript/ECMAScript
  • Knowledge of algorithms, data structure, web technologies, protocols, and cross-browser compatibility issues
  • Ability to influence peers and/or management and a champion of best practices that will encourage and drive adoption
  • Knowledge of architecting or building front end components and/or libraries
  • Knowledge of Semantic Markup, AJAX, JSON, and JS libraries (jQuery, YUI, etc)
  • Knowledge of user behavior and interaction design patterns
  • Knowledge of architecting or building front end components and/or libraries
  • Knowledge and practiced application of industry best practices in rich web
  • Ability to build and ship production-quality software to a large consumer audience, specifically user-centric design and development

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $72.49 - $96.06 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
