\ Site Superintendent\


\


Overview: This position is based out Cold Bay/Remote Alaska\


The Superintendent directly supervises and coordinates a variety of activities and employees for execution of a complex, remote-site environmental remediation and demolition project. Performs supervisory and management functions related to job cost tracking.


\ Primary Responsibilities:\


  • Reviews and verifies employee time sheets and submit to payroll daily
  • Supervises and coordinates multiple crews to obtain top quality workmanship while also maintaining safety, efficiency, and crew morale
  • Provides daily reports showing hours worked, equipment used, supplies purchased, shipments received. Also provides estimates for materials, equipment, labor required for efficient operations.
  • Adheres to the company Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Policy when taking part in any employment action or decision, such as hiring, job assignment, layoff or termination
  • Coordinates, directs and leads crews in demolition and remediation activities
  • Recognizes and communicates with Project Manager any problems, such as employee attendance, job costing issues, or complaints from the public
  • Enforces proper safety procedures, documents with reports to the Project Manager and reports incidents immediately to the PM.
  • Other duties as assigned


\ Supervisory Responsibilities:\


Provide field direction for field staff as well as subcontractors and transporters in support of the project. Leadership and direction to achieve safe and efficient execution of the project is required.


\ Education and/or Experience:\


  • Must have related on-the-job training and experience in construction practices. Experience and training must include methods, techniques, equipment and hands-on experience in a supervisory position.
  • Experience in remote Alaska locations is a major consideration.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must have 10 years of directly related experience in heavy equipment operations, construction, logistics, demolition, remediation, or regulated materials handling.


\ Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\


  • Successful candidate should have ability to use computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Outlook software applications. Post secondary education is a plus.
  • General knowledge of administration and management must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment with strong coordination, time management, verbal and written communication, critical thinking and reasoning skills
  • The ability to tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong recognition of problems and finding solutions to those problems. Good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees. Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.


\ Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:\


  • Certificates in fall protection, confined space, trenches and excavation or other job safety or other job site safety training are a plus.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Current HAZWOPER certification

\ Work Environment:\


Work is regularly performed in outside weather conditions in the Arctic, working from a remote construction camp. Anticipate and prepare for exposure to rain, mosquitoes, high winds, extreme cold, moving machinery.
