Shift Manager - Tundish Yard

Cleveland-Cliffs Steel has an open opportunity for Shift Managers Production at our Dearborn Works location. The Shift Managers Production leads a team of employee who oversee hourly employees in our Tundish Yard, which supports our Continuous Caster. They ensure that the Tundishes are properly maintained and refurbished to support production in the Continuous Caster.

Summary of Responsibilities:

• Participates in all tundish trials, as needed, to validate performance, and coordinate activities with employees.
• Trains and audits training of Tundish Yard personnel.
• Conducts start of turn toolbox meeting, and reviews safety items throughout turn.
• Ensures that all required equipment is functional and meets standards.
• Maintains Inventory of all tundish components and ordering to remain ahead of tundish requirements.
• Coordinates with Caster Maintenance on all breakdowns or potential issues and events.
• Monitors equipment status regarding maintenance issues through assisted PMs.
• Conducts monthly procedural reviews and communicates changes with employees and Quality / Safety Coordinators.
• Observes job functions and refractory use to assist, trouble shoot, or benchmark the use of Caster tundish refractory components.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Strong leadership, negotiation, interpersonal, and communications skills.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Production supervisory experience within a heavy industrial environment required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, management, or related field.
• Experience managing in a union environment and/or in heavy industry preferred.
