Job Description

Service Writer -Material Handling $2000 Signing Bonus

Position Overview

At Arnold, we have assembled the most comprehensive machinery support team in the western United States. There is nothing in our inventory as valuable as the associates who carry our reputation into the marketplace. With the training we provide, the Service Writer helps Arnold to keep that standing.

Essential Job Functions

  • Accurately determine if machine warranty applies. Advise customers of warranty status before performing any service. If unable to determine status due to lack of information, inform the customer that the job will be charged as revenue until information identifies it as a warranty
  • On jobs where written authorization is not obtained before dispatch of a mechanic, follow up with Service Manager that the mechanic obtain a signature of the customer's representative before start of the job
  • Acting as a liaison between the customer and dealership
  • Works with Service Manager to ensure that repairs are performed within the labor hours quoted or estimated to customer
  • Process time cards for technicians and maintain service reports
  • Writing up, monitoring, reviewing, and assisting with job closing
  • Review the work schedule daily with the Service Manager to update work-in-progress (WIP) priorities, segments, parts deliveries, and completion deadlines
  • Fill in at the parts counter with customer orders when necessary to maintain a professional and timely response for parts inquiries
  • Assist Parts Manager with ordering parts, maintaining inventory control, and restocking as required
  • Promoting and ensuring customer satisfaction by assisting with the enhancement of labor and parts sales
  • Greet walk-in customers and take customer calls
  • Assist the Sales department with paperwork including financial documents, machine orders, etc.

Non-essential Job Functions

  • Keeps the Service Manager currently informed on all matters of managerial importance
  • Assist the Service Manager with the administration of the Service Department
  • Assure that service personnel adhere to safety, housekeeping, and other company policies and procedures with the assistance of the Service Manager
  • Compare the final invoice with the service proposal. Verify that work accomplished is to the customer's expectations
  • Assist the parts manager with the administration of the parts department

Other Skills/Abilities Desired

  • Experience with the “Reflection” program helpful
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel & Word
  • Candidate with an ambitious and proactive attitude, and strong work ethic
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to solve problems with little direct supervision
  • Good mathematical proficiency

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Reaches to answer phones
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Communicates by phone and in-person
  • Walking and moving about on foot often through uneven terrain
  • Bends body to file various paperwork
  • Hears well enough to receive communication by radio, phone, and in-person
  • Remains in a standing position if required to perform various functions of the job
  • Read paperwork, files, and records on the computer
  • Bends body downward and forward by bending at knees or waist

Education:

  • Related experience could be a substitution for school requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
