Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced server to join our team at a bustling tea room. As an integral part of our staff, the right candidate will have a proven track record in delivering exceptional customer service in a fast-paced environment. We are a small team without support staff (ie. bussers, hosts, food runners, expo, etc.), you will be expected to execute the tasks normally completed by these roles in addition to normal server duties. This is not a first-time server position, and prior experience is an absolute must.


All of our servers earn over $15/hr in tips. Servers take home earnings, in cash, daily. Saturday availability is required.

Responsibilities

Provide excellent customer service by welcoming guests, taking orders, and ensuring an enjoyable dining experience.

Demonstrate extensive knowledge of our tea room's menu offerings, including specialty teas, sandwiches, pastries, and other delicacies.

Handle phone calls with professionalism, take reservations, address customer inquiries, and provide accurate information about our services.

Coordinate and host private parties, including setup, service, and cleanup, while ensuring the utmost attention to detail and guest satisfaction.

Collaborate with other team members to maintain a clean and organized tea room, including restocking supplies and assisting with general housekeeping tasks.

Uphold high standards of hygiene and safety to comply with health regulations.

Handle cash transactions and operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately.

Manage timing between reservations and walk-ins.


Qualifications

Required:

At least 1.5 years of prior experience as a server in a fast-paced environment is essential. This is not an entry-level position.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively under pressure, multitask, and prioritize responsibilities in a busy setting.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.

Strong verbal communication skills to interact with customers, colleagues, and management.

Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in order-taking, invoicing, and cash handling.

Ability to adapt and thrive in a team-oriented environment, supporting colleagues when necessary.

Texas Food Handlers License and Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Certificate; or willingness to earn.

Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25lbs.

Ability to lift hands and arms above head to reach materials.

Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as the tea room business demands.


Preferred:

Experience in handling catering orders, from initial customer contact to delivery, is highly desirable.

Familiarity with hosting private parties and events, including setup, service, and cleanup.

Knowledge of teas, pastries, and other tea room basics.
