WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The American Red Cross seeks a Senior Visual Studio Developer. This is a remote position, and can work from home in any state, but must work east coast hours.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD
Looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer (SE V) to be responsible for design, development, support, maintenance, and enhancement of technology solutions including .NET Core 7 and C# applications, Oracle Server databases, Mobile Development, Web Services, and vendor-provided solutions. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the aforementioned areas and have experience developing support procedures and documentation. Candidate must have strong collaboration skills and be able to work effectively with both local and remote resources.
Primary Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Responding promptly and professionally to bug reports.
  • Conduct code reviews for all .NET development.
  • Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas.
  • Review and repair legacy code.
  • Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of clients and staff.
  • Responsible for planning, processing and performing all jobs in an efficient manner with little or no assistance from the supervisor
  • Design and develop technology solutions making specific determinations about system performance.
  • Unit test new applications to ensure that logic and syntax are correct, and that program results are accurate; assists junior programmers with programming assignments.
  • Document code consistently throughout the development process.
  • Oversee technical teams in delivery of defect-free code.
  • The salary range for this position is $93,000.00-$111,600.00.Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
  • Aid testers and support personnel as needed to determine system issues.
  • The work location for this exciting opportunity is virtual. The selected candidate will work 100% remotely from home and can be located anywhere in the United States and work on EST.
  • Scope: Individual contributor that works under limited supervision. Apply subject matter knowledge. Capacity to understand specific needs or requirements to apply skills/knowledge.
  • Refactor Proof of Concepts to Production-ready solutions.
  • Responsible for developing new software and unit testing to develop necessary changes to assure quality solutions.
  • Establish and publish coding standards and development best practice guides.
  • Working closely with upper management.
  • Mentor junior staff on development concepts and best practices.
  • Develop and debug solutions for assigned projects.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
  • Visual Studio 2015+, 64-bit, Enterprise Edition – 5+ years
  • Minimum 7 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • J-Query, HTML, XML, PL SQL – 2+ years
  • C# - 3+ years
  • DevOps, TFS, and/or VSTS – Minimum 4 years
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science field or equivalent experience required.
Skills & Abilities:
  • ASP.NET – 2+ years
  • C# - 5+ years
  • Possess excellent communication skills, with an emphasis on verbal and written communication.
  • Visual Studio 2015 (or newer), 64-bit, Enterprise Edition – 5+ years
  • Ability to work in an AGILE, waterfall, or hybrid SDLC environment.
  • Ability to be 24-hour on-call during periods of major disasters.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of object-oriented and client/server programming.
  • Expert knowledge of writing program documentation.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
  • Ability to determine whether a particular problem is caused by hardware, operating systems software, application programs, or network failures.
  • Expert knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems.
  • DevOps, TFS, and/or VSTS – Minimum 2 years
  • Expert knowledge of standard development tools.
  • Web Services – 5+ years
  • J-Query, HTML, XML, PL SQL – 2+ years
  • Ability to communicate highly technical information effectively to various audiences.
  • Ability to identify tasks that require automation and automate them.

Travel: May travel to participate in meetings as required.
