AECOM’s Environment Team
is seeking a skilled Technical Editor to work out of Anchorage, AK. The position is open to remote work.

JOB SUMMARY:

This individual will support the editing and delivery of environmental documents and proposals. Typical duties of this role include: managing document delivery processes, working with project managers/task leads to set schedules, shepherding documents through the quality control processes, ensuring on-time delivery, and reviewing/editing/updating a variety of environmental documents.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Copyediting (i.e., correcting format, grammar, syntax, spelling, and style).
  • Complying with client-specific style guidelines and templates.
  • Delegate and provide direction to other staff.
  • Verifying that documents have the required sections based on guidance documents.
  • Assist others in following the appropriate writing/editing and document production policies and procedures.
  • Revising text for logical flow, clarity, conciseness, completeness, and consistency.
  • Checking that both internal and client comments have been incorporated or addressed.
  • Checking tables for the logic of structure, accuracy, completeness, and correspondence with text.
  • Checking figures for clarity, completeness, use of symbols and styles, and correspondence with text.
  • Formatting reports, checking acronyms, and validating references.
  • Verifies document content and processes conform with client standards, procedures, and methodologies.

Qualifications


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • BA/BS degree plus four (4) years of demonstrated equivalency experience and/or education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven organizational and administrative skills, including the ability to complete varied work tasks on schedule.
  • Ability to write, edit, and produce documents in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong writing and editing skills and an in-depth understanding of effective writing.
  • Working knowledge of federal environmental planning processes and experience in preparing state (California preferred) and federal environmental documents. Experience with CEQA and NEPA documents.
  • 6 years or more of technical editing and/or copy editing experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to review critically multi-disciplinary environmental documents and reports.
  • Experience supporting proposal preparation and delivery.
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to function well in a fast-paced, changing environment under demanding deadlines.
  • Experience coordinating with and directing technical writers or editors, managing document production processes, and creating schedules.
