We are seeking a Senior Scientist I, Biological Sciences to join our drug discovery group. This position will work with the Biological Sciences team to discover new kinase inhibitors for the treatment of cancer.


This position will report to a Senior Principal Investigator, Biological Sciences and is located in our state-of-the-art research facility near the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.


Key Responsibilities


  • Contributes to the identification and validation of new drug targets
  • Responsible for analysis of samples from studies performed at CROs
  • Responsible for generating reports and presentations as required by the organization
  • Perform routine screening of small molecule kinase inhibitors
  • Perform routine mammalian cell culture
  • Generate transient and stable-transfected cell lines needed to understand activities of kinase inhibitors
  • Values other people and promotes the welfare of the organization and colleagues
  • Responsible for adhering to corporate policies including safety, FDA compliance and regulatory matters
  • Able to independently work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Responsible for effectively working in a team environment, communicating and planning research with others both within and outside the team
  • Participate in the preparation of scientific abstracts and manuscripts
  • Perform other research duties when requested
  • Responsible for independently developing and validating new molecular biology and cell-based assays needed to understand activities of kinase inhibitors in cancer cells and cells found in the tumor microenvironment
  • Responsible for tracking and recording data into corporate database and notebooks


Qualifications


  • Other: Computer skills with MS Office (Excel, Word, PPT) and GraphPad Prism.
  • Degree: PhD in cell biology, biochemistry or a related field with 2-5 years of industry or biotech experience. MS with >8 years of industry or biotech experience.
  • Technical skills required: strong laboratory experience with cell biology and immunology techniques. Experience with organoid and/or spheroid cultures, primary immune cell culture/co-culture and molecular biology techniques are strongly preferred.
