Position Summary

Portland Valves is searching for a Sr Quality Engineer to join its Warren Massachusetts team. Portland Valve produces valve products for the defense industry.


Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct internal and external audits for compliance to ISO 9001, nondestructive testing, welding and calibration requirements.
  • Interpret ASTM, Military, DFARS and FAR specifications to assure process compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement through utilization of CIRCOR Operating System (COS) tools.
  • Conduct hardware reviews and software package preparation to support customer and government source inspection shipment activity.
  • Evaluate incoming and in process materials for acceptance to applicable material specifications.
  • Prepare and respond to customer escapes and corrective action requests (CAR).
  • Conduct contract review on customer, Navy and government contracts to define requirements.
  • Manage the notification to customer and government source inspection personnel for order shipment.
  • Create, complete and maintain customer required documentation and archive according to customer requirements.
  • Ensure a strong communication path is created with manufacturing.
  • Work with manufacturing to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained.
  • Be the point person on customer audits of CIRCOR Naval Solutions.
  • Develop, create, edit and implement special process and quality system procedures.
  • Evaluate hardware for acceptance to blueprint requirements.


JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in quality engineering, including audit, in-depth understanding of quality concepts and principles required
  • Must be a US Citizen to meet US Defense requirements and must be able to obtain a DOD clearance.
  • Knowledge of Defense Industry and prior experience with DOD Contractor a plus.
  • Machining and blueprint interpretation skills are a must.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering or a technical field required.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certification preferred.
  • Experience with standards such as ISO9001, and AWS welding requirements and inspection preferred
  • Must be able to meet tight deadlines, be detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of ANSI Y14.5 GD&T.
