Senior Oracle Database Administrator (Remote)

ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Develops, tests, deploys, and iteratively improves database capabilities, features, and APIs in collaboration with designers, product managers, end-users, and other engineers on the database team.
• Contributes to improving and simplifying the database user experience for development teams.
• Develops and integrates high quality database products that are secure, simple to use, easy to operate, difficult to break, fully integrated, and extremely observable with measurable results.
• Leverages critical thinking, experimentation, data, end-user feedback, and industry best practices to achieve desired business outcomes.
• Responsible for all technical aspects related to database product lifecycle including code, infrastructure, data, security, CICD, support, and easy-to-read documentation.
• Continuously develops self and supports the development of others.
• Contributes to database engineering and software development standards.
• A team player who is more interested in making the team successful vs him/her/themselves.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

REQUIRED:

• RMAN Backup/Recovery
• A balance of experience in development, infrastructure systems, infrastructure operations, and infrastructure security.
• Exadata/RAC Appliance
• Shell Scripting
• Monitoring/Alerting using Oracle Enterprise Manager
• Oracle 11g, 12c, 19c, 21c
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies or techniques quickly.
• Open-minded approaches to problem solving that centers around the needs of the customer.
• PL/SQL
• A passion for turning complex, distributed systems into highly available, fully integrated, and easy to use products.
• Replication strategies using Data Guard

• Possess specific skills:

PREFERRED:

• Experience with object oriented development using GitLab, Powershell, Python, Shell, or Go.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in MIS, Computer Science or related field
• Knowledge and experience with continuous integration, continuous deployment, and test driven development.
• Knowledge of application design patterns, event-driven architecture, and testing strategies.
• 2+ years of experience in software or infrastructure platform development.
• Knowledge and experience working with infrastructure as code and GitOps methodologies.
• Experience working with major cloud platforms (GCP and/or AWS)
