Kiewit Industrial Engineer (KIND)

Our rapidly growing Industrial Engineering team, which includes process, mechanical, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Mineral Processing, Renewable Fuels, Pulp and Paper, Steel & Aluminum, Industrial Buildings, and Industrial Energy, Water and Utilities.

LOCATION

This position is based out of our Lone Tree, CO office.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets the example for exceptional performance.
  • Generates multiple alternatives before settling on a solution.
  • Leads team in advanced solutions to complex issues.
  • Develops mid to major-sized project or proposals with no supervision.
  • Serves as Kiewit representative in external organization and committees.
  • Identifies changes in scope of work during a small to major project and produces design changes and documents to stay within budget and schedule.
  • Reviews and corrects the work of engineers and designers to develop documents as needed.
  • Proactively identifies gaps in design and provides solutions.
  • Leads quality check of engineering and design of major projects to ensure accuracy.
  • Leads others in project objectives consistent with that of the organization.
  • Manages several different assignments simultaneously.
  • Resolves conflicting requirements and approaches across disciple lines as needed.
  • Serves as resource to less experienced engineers.
  • Leads major-size project or proposals.
  • Develops creative solutions to complex problems.
  • Collaborates with others to determine best solution internally and externally.
  • Assists others to structure and solve technical issues.
  • Improves existing processes by using different approaches/methods.
  • Generates new ways of thinking about and solving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Seeks out industry experts for advancing skill sets.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering minimum required.
  • Works well with others. Involves less experienced engineers in issues to foster training of others.
  • Proactively looks for solutions to improved quality, cost and safety.
  • Work with project team as representative and coordinates work within discipline department.
  • Acts independently to determine methods and processes for assignments.
  • Works collaboratively across departments and with field to solve problems.
  • Advises and provides perspectives from a variety of sources internally and externally to solve problems.
  • 25+ years' minimum relevant experience in refining and petrochemical industry.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Communicates effectively across all levels of organization.
  • Travel < 25% expected.
  • Identifies gaps in team and works to resolve and close proactively.
  • Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
  • Develops and presents work in well-constructed written and verbal presentations. Clearly conveys messages and ideas, gains understanding.
  • Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
  • Continuously looking for ways to improve processes for customers and makes recommendations for improvements.
  • Trains and leads team of engineers as needed and plans work for team to accomplish objectives.
  • Continually improves efficiency and performance of team and processes.
  • Serves as technical resource to engineers, designers, other departments and to projects and estimating.
  • Actively seeks feedback from customers and takes action to improve processes.
  • Initiates meetings within own team, other disciplines or internal customers for clarity on work.
  • Leads team for work with high complexity.

Base Compensation: $152,678 - $229,016
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
