Position Summary:
Marathon Petroleum Company LP is looking for a full-time Senior Materials Management Advisor. This position will report to the Inventory Control Manager and may be based at any office or operational location.
The Senior Materials Management Advisor will be responsible for initiating and leading strategic projects related to the optimization of enterprise materials and supplies inventory. The qualified candidate will understand Marathon’s material management program and the functional and strategic roles of materials management tactics employed by the department. Preferred candidates will have extensive knowledge related to material commodities utilized in the oil and gas industry, specifically specifications and understanding of pipe, valves, and fittings (PVF).
Candidates must be dynamic self-starters who work collaboratively, are results oriented, and driven by continuous improvement. This position may occasionally provide backup support to the Supply Chain Operations - Materials Management Master Data team, Warehouse Leaders, and other members of the Supply Chain Operations - Inventory Control team. Candidates must also possess the skills necessary to create/update material master records and have a significant foundation of warehouse operations.
Responsibilities:
  • Champions standardization of warehouse operations workstreams.
  • Authors and maintains Supply Chain materials management procedures, policies, and job aids.
  • Assists with SOX control reporting and monitoring as it relates to inventory cycle count completion requirements.
  • Deliver best in class transportation and logistic solutions to meet run the business requirements.
  • Provides training and desk-side support, as required, for ERP modules used by Supply Chain employees in the materials management space.
  • Analyze material inventories to identify optimization opportunities related to stocking levels and disposition activities.
  • Execute initiatives that are aligned to business objectives and deliver value.
  • Provide data analytics to support commercial initiatives to improve overall financial performance related to transportation costs of both inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Works with operational site stakeholders to understand pain points in materials management workstreams and solutions strategies to mitigate gaps and drive best in class processes.
  • Identify strategic opportunities to create value for the Company.
  • Identify master data cleansing and enhancement projects that support stakeholder requirements.
  • Collaborates with Master Data and Inventory Control colleagues to:
    • Identify master data cleansing and enhancement projects that support stakeholder requirements.
    • Execute initiatives that are aligned to business objectives and deliver value.
    • Analyze material inventories to identify optimization opportunities related to stocking levels and disposition activities.
    • Deliver best in class transportation and logistic solutions to meet run the business requirements.
  • Provide day-to-day support and strategic consultation services to stakeholders involved in the warehousing of company owned materials and supplies.
  • Actively seeks and identifies opportunities for value creation through enhanced materials management workstreams, procedures, and projects.
  • Serves as warehousing best practices SME to provide guidance to warehouse leaders and other stakeholders for material workflow troubleshooting and efficiencies.
  • Leads site specific and/or system wide warehousing enhancement projects.
  • Align with Supply Chain Category Management to define commercial strategies for transportation of Company owned materials and assets.
  • Manages projects related to the deduplication and enrichment of material master data records for pipe, valves, and fittings (PVF) material commodities.

Qualifications:
  • Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited University focused in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management.
  • Computer Proficiencies: Must be proficient in use of SAP, also MS Office products.
  • Experience Preferred: 11 or more years progressively responsible for material master data, inventory control, warehousing, MRO materials management or related experience in Supply Chain; previous experience working in support roles for Refining and Midstream is preferred.
