Your role at Baxter

The Senior Manager, Distribution & Fleet Operations is accountable for Strategy Development, Business Planning and Operational execution for the Batesville Distribution Center, this may include, but is not limited to, warehousing, distribution, transportation, inventory control, and vendor management. Responsibilities include oversite of 200K square ft. warehouse facility and an overflow warehouse of 40K square ft. Responsible for an operating budget of 20.3M with annual shipping revenues in excess of 550M.

We are in need of a dynamic leader who will manage 6 direct reports overseeing Warehouse Operations, Fleet Management, Customs and Trade Compliance, Transportation Scheduling, Inventory Management. There are 35 warehouse personnel and a fleet consisting of 37 OTR drivers that indirectly report into this individual.


What you'll be doing

  • Develop and Manage the Warehouse Operations Budget – Extensive experience leading budgetary performance and profitability (P&L)
  • Direct Warehouse Operations ensuring optimized service at best cost to all customers (internal & external) as well as coordinating related freight aspects
  • Drive and support all Fulfillment activities for Warehouse Operations in accordance with the Strategic Plans, within the approved budgets, within the international regulations and current official legislations, to ensure that the needs of all customers are met in a timely manner, and in such a way as to make both investments and company objectives profitable
  • Set strategic direction in the development, implementation, and execution of key initiatives in the support of fulfillment and meeting business objectives. Provide leadership and direction to the operational team in line with Baxter leadership expectations that foster Top Quartile performance and build a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Implement and optimize WMS software systems

  • Responsible for Strategy deployment to ensure Safety, Quality, Service and Cost targets are met
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained to ensure business requirements are being met
  • Outline the strategy for the site leadership and ensure alignment with the annual business operating plan
  • Own the Best Place to Work workplace program that drives engagement of all employees at all levels & be the leader for all representatives
  • Define annual and longer-term goals and developmental plans for the leadership team

Quality management

  • Ensure that all operations are in line with Federal and local legal requirements and including but not limited to cGDP and cGMP
  • Ensure that all operations are in line with Baxter Corporate and quality manual requirements

EHS

  • Ensure full compliance to OSHA regulations, DOT and to Baxter EHS guidelines
  • Foster and maintain a culture of safe behavior and zero-harm workplaces
  • Work with EHS to prepare a comprehensive prevention plan for the site

What you'll bring

  • Experience in JDE and WMS applications
  • BS in Operational/Logistics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or similar degree
  • Strong, validated development skills for developing top talent
  • 10% travel
  • 5+ years of experience in Transportation and related Logistics management experience
  • Strong leadership skills including leading cross-functional projects with broad scope and impact to Baxter
  • Analytical approach for solving complex cross functional problems
  • Deep understanding of all aspects of Supply Chain including financial, operational, cost impacts, inventory turns and service levels
  • LEAN Six Sigma experience
  • Strong communication skills (with Commercial, Customers, direct reports, peers, and leadership) and ability to develop rapport with other functional leaders inside Baxter and Supply base. Ability to communicate and present to multiple levels of the organization
  • Thinks strategically, embraces change, challenges status quo, and makes recommendations for improvements

We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career. At Baxter, we are committed to equitable pay for all our employees, and we strive to be more transparent with our pay practices. To that end, this position has a salary range of $112,000 to $216,000 and also includes an annual incentive bonus and equity target. The above range represents the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary may vary based upon several factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills/experience, time in the role, business line, and geographic/office location.
