Position Summary


Global Technology Communications Office at Sony Group Corporation is seeking a candidate with a strong communications background to lead and support Sony Group Corporation CTO’s communication efforts to the global technology and creator communities. The Group CTO oversees setting the vision and direction for the Sony Group R&D Ecosystem, which include R&D divisions at the headquarters as well as the respective business units under Sony Group Corporation.


The primary role of this position is to understand the CTO’s vision and direction and to develop communication strategies and materials to best convey them to the global audience. This person must have strong affinity and understanding of the latest technologies and trends, as well as the ability to develop tailored messages according to the audiences that spans from those in the financial, technology and creative sectors.


Job Responsibilities


  • Develop a comprehensive communication strategy aimed at a global audience for the CTO
  • Write relevant papers (op-eds, etc) for CTO and staff members, as well as press releases
  • Develop presentations, keynotes, and speeches for the CTO
  • Create and manage global speaking engagement calendar
  • Create and maintain any relevant websites
  • Coordinate closely with communication and PR teams globally
  • Develop tailored messaging according to the audiences that span the financial, technology and creative sectors


Qualifications For Position


Your qualifications and experience should include: 


  • Ability to develop communication strategies and materials catered to the audiences across various sectors including financial, technical and entertainment
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Experience working in a multinational and multicultural organization (experience working for a C-Level Executives is preferred)
  • Experience organizing events (eg. announcements) as well as creating communication assets (PPT, Videos, Web and Social)
  • Master’s degree in Communications or similar area and/or equivalent work experience
  • Experience managing and leading a team in Communications
  • 10+ years of work experience in areas such Corporate Communications, PR and/or IR for a Technology company
  • Experience working with and managing external agencies
  • Has broad understanding of the technology landscape including emerging technology such as AI (Experience working for an AI company is a plus)
  • Good team leader as well as team player who has the skillsets to coordinate and drive initiatives involving cross functional/regional teams and multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (Business level Japanese is a plus)

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $140,000 to $165,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for.  The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
