Senior Laboratory Technician Jobs

Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, medical technology, molecular biology or related field.

This position involve potential occupational exposure to human or non-human primate blood, bodily fluids or tissues, or other potentially infectious materials.

One year experience in medical technology, molecular biology or microbiology or related field. Demonstrated knowledge of bacterial pathogens, with understanding of bacterial culture and molecular methods. Some experience in a laboratory. Experience with Microsoft Office.

The Senior Lab Technician will assist with clinical testing utilizing conventional and molecular methods. The incumbent will assist with accessioning specimens and performing bacterial culture and antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Molecular testing methods will include real-time PCR and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Additionally, the incumbent will assist with managing specimens, utilizing a clinical information management system, and provide results of testing that contribute to laboratory testing and data analysis for special studies.

Grant funded position. Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.

This position requires that the incumbent will report to the official work location and live within commuting distance to the official work location. Telecommuting may not be available. If telecommuting is available, the incumbent will be required to have a telephone/mobile device, and internet access.
