Senior Kubernetes Engineer Jobs

BASIC PURPOSE: Responsible for the design and implementation of all AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) infrastructure. Work closely with Kubernetes Engineer and Cloud Engineers to ensure the infrastructure is optimized and functioning properly. Participate in research and development to enable continuing innovation within the cloud infrastructure.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Establish a strategic Kubernetes vision, including standards and frameworks that are aligned with the overall business and IT strategies.
• Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Deep understanding of reading and creating Terraform code to build environments.
• Use GitHub to handle versioning or Terraform code.
• Mentor fellow team members on container technologies and concepts.
• Work with CI/CD tools like Jenkins to implement End-to-End Automation.
• Understand Ansible playbooks and how to use Terraform to leverage them.
• Act as the EKS subject matter expert; provides advisory and consulting services to business, IT departments, and IS management.
• Serve as third-tier support for EKS.
• Perform other job-related functions as assigned.
• Implement some AWS Cloud platform infrastructure and features which includes EC2, EBS, AMI, SNS, RDS, Cloud Watch, Cloud Trail, Cloud Formation, IAM, S3, R53.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field; or equivalent experience highly desired.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5-7 years of experience in the following areas/technologies: Dev/Ops, AWS Cloud Infrastructure, Network (Advanced understanding of concepts and technologies), IAM and cloud security.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: Strong analytical, interpersonal, verbal/written communication and problem-solving skills. Works with minimum supervision and proactively follows up on outstanding issues/tickets. Ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment. Expert-level Kubernetes and EKS Administration experience. Strong experience with K8s Provisioning, K8s APIs, networking, service discovery, routing, monitoring and logging. Strong knowledge of stateless and stateful workloads. Highly proficient in AWS and Linux. Advanced experience with CI/CD pipelines and understanding identity and authentication (Jenkins, Travis, etc).
