Job Description

Our People & Places Solutions business – reinforces our drive to improve the lives of people everywhere and epitomizes the "why" of what we do – the tremendous positive impact and value our solutions bring to our communities and society as a whole. From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.

Start your Jacobs career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow.

Your Impact:

We share a common purpose – to make the world more connected and sustainable. And we’re excited about the innovative ways we can change the world. If you are also interested in turning abstract ideas into realities that transform the world for good, then Jacobs is where you belong. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Senior Instrumentation & Control Systems (I&CS) Design Engineer. As part of Corvallis, Oregon based Design Center team, you’ll have the chance to work on projects that bring innovative solutions to our municipal clients’ water challenges locally and worldwide.

You’ll get to work with a company that has been ranked #1 globally by Engineering News Record (ENR) in water/wastewater treatment and conveyance for decades. In 2022, ENR ranked Jacobs #1 again in its list of Top 500 Engineering Design Firms in the world for a fifth consecutive year.

You’ll get to work with our world-class Instrumentation and Control Systems team dedicated to protecting the most valuable asset in the world, water. You’ll get to work on projects on every aspect from design through onsite startup work. You will enjoy having the deepest technical resources in the industry to support you, access to international work, and Design-Build projects.

Using your experience, you'll lead the development of Process & Instrumentation Drawings (P&IDs), control narratives, specifications, network drawings, panel drawings, and instrument selection. You’ll coordinate with other engineering disciplines for a cohesive design. You’ll also contribute to the development and growth of people (e.g. mentoring junior engineers) both domestically and globally. You’ll be able to develop control system software in Programmable Logic Controllers and Human Machine Interfaces and perform facility startups and commissioning activities. As well, you will be able to review constructions submittals, conduct site evaluations, make recommendations for control system upgrades, and communicate with clients and management.

Jacobs health and welfare benefits are designed to invest in you, and in the things you care about. Your health. Your well-being. Your security. Your future. Eligible employees and their dependents may elect medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, and if eligible, a deferred compensation plan, and Executive Deferral Plan. We have an unlimited U.S. Personalized Paid Time Off (PPTO) policy for eligible full-time exempt employees, seven paid holidays, one floating holiday, and caregiver leave. Hired applicants will be able to purchase company stock and have the opportunity to receive a performance discretionary bonus.
The base salary range for this position is $86,700 to $213,200. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited university or college
  • Active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, or open to getting one
  • Minimum of 12 years of experience:
  • I/O list development
  • Process & Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) development
  • PLC equipment list development
  • Detailed loop wiring diagrams
  • Instrumentation selection
  • I&C Systems Integration design experience.
  • Control panel layout and wiring
  • Ability to mentor, train, and delegate work to others domestically and abroad
  • Ability to work outside normal work hours at times to coordinate with global team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Ideally, you’ll also have:

  • Water infrastructure Instrumentation & Controls Systems design experience.
  • Experience with PLCs and HMI programming software
