The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help lead the transition from research prototype to a reliable software solution for the end-user. Candidates should possess familiarity in one or more of the following areas: software design, real-time processing, APIs, graphics, data visualization, and database design.

Key Responsibilities


  • Engagement with geographically dispersed customers and stakeholders to understand system needs and inform programmatic decisions
  • Coordination with software systems architects and engineers to design, align, and implement software solutions
  • Collaboration with a high-performing team focused on responsive development efforts
  • Working directly with end-users to assess and revise software solutions
  • Developing microservice oriented software aimed at integrating various space-based capabilities and visualizing diverse datasets.


Required Qualifications


  • Ability to serve as a technical adviser to program managers, customers, and stakeholders on software applications and solutions
  • Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills to respond resourcefully to new demands or challenges
  • Strong computing background and can demonstrate capabilities in object-oriented design and development
  • Capable of enforcing software development processes (revision control, peer reviews, documentation standards)
  • Must be able to work effectively both independently and with a team to align stakeholder needs with software development
  • US citizenship required along with the ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Government security clearance
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Working knowledge of Angular
  • Some travel may be required
  • 7 or more years with Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
  • Working knowledge of C#


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience with microservices and containerization/Kubernetes
  • Active security clearance
  • Familiarity with the Tasking, Collection, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TCPED) process
  • Background with space-based sensing systems, mission planning software, and/or exploitation capabilities
