Senior Financial Analyst – Industry Leader

Silver Spring, MD - Hybrid

The Senior Financial Analyst is a newly created opportunity to join a 100-year-old specialty insurance industry leader based in Silver Spring, MD and will play a critical role in supporting both investment analysis as well as corporate FP&A. This is an unique opportunity for finance professionals with four or more years of experience or public accounting candidates interested in pivoting their career towards corporate finance. The Senior Financial Analyst will offer a hybrid flexible in office/work from home schedule, a competitive compensation package in the $110,000 to $130,000 range depending on experience, exceptional benefits, and a company cultural known for fostering professional development and career growth.

Senior Financial Analyst –

• Consolidates departmental budgets and reforecasts into division wide summaries for senior management review.
• Provides calculations, industry research, and general insight reports for financial support to assigned department(s).
• Prepares budgets and reforecasts for departments, as assigned; critically reviews proposed budgets and reforecasts provided by other department heads.
• Analyzes financial reports to identify variances. Researches variances by tracing entries back to source systems, analyzing results compared to budget assumptions, and ontainnig explanations through dicussions with department managers; projects impacts and summaries for management review.
• Reviews and analyzes financial information, business unit results, and provides interpretation of analysis to senior management.
• Supports the development of new reporting tools to track performance of key indicators: uses knowledge of the business to idnetify key performance drivers; analyzes business unit / functional area processes and systems to identify data sources, creates new reporting tools, generates reports monthly inlcuding researching and explaining variances.
• Creates, coordinates and analyzes monthly/quarterly journal entries and/or product filings; maintains files accordingly.
• Develops new financial reports to create more meaningful management reporting.
• Analyzes present reporting systems and dataflow, modifies reports, and develops new reports as appropriate in coordination with other departmens as necessary.
• Conducts ad hoc financial analysis as assigned.
• Monitors billing and receivable processes to ensure accurate and timely billing and appropriate posting.

Senior Financial Analyst - Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business or related field is strongly desired
• Organized team player who enjoys problem solving and
• Advanced Excel skills with excellent analytical and communication skills
• 4 or more years of professional experience within related financial analysis or public accounting
• Experience or industry exposure within financial services, insurance, investment, or related sectors preferred
