The role


We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team. SoFi Credit Card was recently launched in 2021. We are a small team but looking to grow rapidly to sustain the upcoming scale of customers, products and features. We are working hard to make it even more appealing to existing consumers, acquire new customers as well as experiment with new avenues and need your help to do so.


On our team, you will be in the middle of it all – implementing functionality, architecting our system, squashing bugs, maintaining the health of our code, and continually growing as an engineer. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and hands-on, has a solid sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker. At SoFi, we pride ourselves on the collaboration between Product, Design and Engineering and so you will be involved in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation through building, deploying and continual improvement and evolution.


What you’ll do:


  • Mentor and grow technical leadership on the team while ensuring a high-quality culture is maintained.
  • Define strategy for an entire organization through continued expansion, production delivery, and a sustained high pace of new feature development.
  • Make critical decisions regarding technology selection, the balance of feature and operational priorities, and setting high standards for quality and on-time delivery.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management on features to ensure the product is delivered to SoFi customers.
  • Define and execute meaningful performance and operational SLAs that capture our customer experience.
  • Generate, enhance, and promote ideas for useful new projects and technologies.
  • Lead a high-performing development team to design, implement and operate against all portions of an entire SoFi product line.
  • Guide the organization through continued expansion, production delivery, and a sustained high pace of new feature development.


What you’ll need:


  • Familiarity with w/AWS and at-scale services
  • 10+ years of Java (or another Object-Oriented Programming language) experience
  • Working knowledge of Web development
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent from a fully-accredited college or university
  • 4+ years of experience managing multiple teams/managers or leads
  • 8+ years prior experience in an engineering people management position
  • Experience managing teams operating across multiple offices
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL or Postgres)
  • Work and play well with others; SoFi is a collaborative environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and Agile development environment


Nice to have:


  • Master or PhD in Computer Science or Engineering
  • Financial services experience.

The base pay range for this role is listed below. Final base pay offer will be determined based on individual factors such as the candidate’s experience, skills, and location.
