Summary

The Senior Director, Product Design & Development is responsible for Titleist Golf Gear global design and development management across all categories. Lead and develop a team of best in class designers and developers to create seasonal best in class products against approved briefs and desired timelines and costing targets. Ensure thorough evaluation and confirmation for materials testing/sourcing, prototype wear testing and color/fashion trend review while collaborating with the leaders of Sourcing and Quality and Product Management. Establish a product innovation pipeline and elevated our Product Costing process annually while executing annually against the product creation calendar.


Responsibilities

  • Foster Creative Culture: Collaborate with design team across Acushnet Company to create a design forum where designers can come to share ideas and create in an open environment.
  • Global Development Leadership: Pioneer the evolution of and lead an exceptionally efficient and effective development team based in the USA, Korea and (future) Vietnam across any development agents to deliver Best in Class and strategic development execution the exceeds our product brief goals and product creation timelines. Ensure the gold standard of quality and durability testing through foresight and testing program development. Collaborate with Gear Sourcing & QA team to bring evolution of factory best practices in development, and costing and guiding the vendor partners to achieve these enhancements. Work with Sourcing and Operations leadership to develop best in class vendor selection, partnership and execution for the long-term that includes proprietary materials, manufacturing, rapid prototyping and innovation exploration.
  • Global Design Leadership: Pioneer the evolution of and lead an exceptionally creative design team based in the USA, Korea and across any design consultants or agents to deliver Best in Class and strategic design inspiration, ideation and execution and key product brief initiatives.
  • Development Timeliness and Costing Excellence: Drive process efficiencies and minimize time requirements from product brief to confirmation through continuous improvement in design, development and costing processes. Establish and elevate a product costing process that benefits both Titleist Gear and vendors to more simply and quickly achieve product brief financial targets.
  • Drive Franchise Product and Innovation Pipeline Design & Development: Support the focus, development and delivery of seasonal strategic franchise plans for high value/profitable products with collateral materials and related assets to enable regional markets to drive merchandising and marketing execution


Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of consumer insights research and creative product commercialization working with product vendors.
  • Expertise in transforming a product strategy and vision into a commercial product that realizes sustainable revenue growth.
  • B.S. or BA Engineering or related with a master's in industrial design, Business Administration or Engineering desired.
  • Candidate should possess strong product creation inspiration, execution as well as strategic growth success, demonstrated leadership in motivating teams, excellent product execution, written and verbal communication skills and time management with golf/competitive knowledge a plus.
  • Ability to lead a highly creative team and guide extract creative products from vendor partnerships as well as collaborate and influence key business partners is paramount. Experience in developing world class product marketing assets is a plus.
  • A minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in exceptional product creation is required.
