- Conduct outreach assessments and evaluations: Measure the effectiveness and impact of community outreach efforts through data collection, analysis, and evaluation. Use findings to refine strategies, improve engagement methods, and demonstrate the value of community outreach to stakeholders.
- Responsible for building, growing, and managing an inclusive volunteer-supported community listening pipeline.
- Supports the fulfillment of volunteer needs for all RMPM brand's events and community listening.
- Stay informed about community issues and trends: Stay up-to-date with local, regional, and national trends, policies, and issues affecting the community. Identify opportunities and challenges that may impact the organization's outreach efforts and develop strategies to address them.
- Supervise volunteer outreach team: Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a team of community volunteer ambassadors. Assign tasks, set goals, and monitor progress to ensure the successful implementation of community engagement initiatives.
- Develop and implement community outreach strategies: Create comprehensive outreach plans to engage with various community groups, including residents, businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies. Identify target audiences and develop tailored messaging and programs to effectively reach and involve community members.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen community relations and increase awareness of and connection to our products, initiatives, and services.
- Collaborate with partners to co-create products, events, and initiatives that address community assets and amplify our organization's mission.
- Identify and analyze community assets concerns, and priorities through active listening sessions, surveys, focus groups, and other relevant methods.
- Work closely with internal departments, such as Audience Development, Programming, Underwriting, Philanthropy and Radio, to align community feedback with organizational goals and ensure community perspectives are incorporated into product-design and decision-making processes.
- Proactively address community concerns and feedback and ensure prompt resolution of issues.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, leaders, activists, and influencers to support collaborative initiatives and partnerships.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute community listening sessions, workshops, forums, town hall meetings, and volunteer strategies designed to foster meaningful connections and promote the organization's mission and objectives. Collaborate with team members, volunteers, and partners to ensure successful implementation.
- Represent our organization at community events, meetings, panel discussions, and conferences, supporting community engagement with our products while effectively communicating our mission, products, and initiatives.
- In partnership with the Volunteer Services Manager, develops the volunteer recruitment strategy to build and grow an inclusive volunteer support system for all RMPM brands.
- In partnership with the Volunteer Services Manager, develops RMPM Volunteer Strategies for all RMPM Brands.
- Liaison for leadership volunteers: Community Advisory Boards and Champion Circles, to include leadership volunteer strategy, recruitment, and relationship management.
- Actively participates in RMPM's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) training program. Uses key standards and teachings of DEI training in day-to-day work.
- Assists with DEI Learning Spaces, including Foundational Training and DEI Lunch and Learn Spaces.
- Supports HR with coaching, mediation, and outside DEI consultants.
- Manage aspects of the department's budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and in alignment with organizational goals.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and creativity.
- Set clear objectives, monitor performance, and provide coaching and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Proficient in using technology and social media platforms for community engagement and outreach.
- Knowledge of data collection and evaluation methods to assess the impact of community outreach initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Leadership skills with the ability to manage a team, delegate tasks, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement effective outreach strategies and campaigns.
- Proven experience (at least 8-10 years) in community relations and organizing, or a related role, preferably within a public media or nonprofit organization.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans, manage partnerships, and drive community impact.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required and travel as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with community organizations, leaders, and influencers.
- Strong understanding of grassroots organizing principles, community development, and social justice issues.
- Passion for social impact, community empowerment, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Experience in event planning and execution, including workshops, community forums, and large-scale events.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
