Strategy, Access & Business Transformation
To enable the Oncology Business Unit (OBU) to optimally deliver it's rapidly growing portfolio and to ultimately achieve our bold ambition, we have created a new integrated Strategy, Access, and Business Transformation group. This group’s scope spans major areas key to value creation and capture within the OBU including pipeline and lifecycle strategy, analytics and insights, prioritization & strategic resource planning, market access and pricing, end-to-end business planning processes and frameworks, business transformation initiatives, learning and capabilities development, business operations and congress strategy. This group works in close collaboration with global functions and markets to set up and enable teams across the OBU to successfully deliver their business objectives.
What You’ll Do
We know we can only make the most significant scientific and cancer care advancements with the most talented team. The Senior Director, Business Operations is a key role within the Business Transformation / Planning and Commercial Operations group, where you will identify, develop and lead purchasing, budget, OBU platform, and high-impact initiatives within the Oncology Business Unit. Additionally, you will develop and drive enhancements in ways of working through engagement and partnership with business stakeholders. The following groups are critical business partners that will drive your success in this role: Global/Region/Market franchises and functions, Finance, Procurement, and Enterprise Operations.
Through this capacity, you will help ensure that the OBU can operate at scale by building, championing, and embedding processes for key business activities. This role is essential in that it will help the OBU leverage with efficiency.
Responsibilities:
  • 7 direct reports: 6 Business Operations Specialists, 1 Business Operations Manager
  • Deliver Core Business Operations for the OBU:
  • End-to-end PO management across OBU functions
  • Enable Systems (Anaplan) to improve insight into spending and budget management
  • Improve functional engagement (Finance, Procurement, business stakeholders.
  • Progress business processes and Ways of Working
  • Provide Activity Based Budget Management (Accruals, Quarterly updates, Year-end process)
  • Team development
  • Special Projects based on business need
Essential For The Role
  • Ability to drive projects forward to a successful conclusion in a matrix organization
  • Track record of success in designing and delivering rigorous and efficient business process that meets legal, compliance, and audit standards
  • Be a catalyst for OBU-wide culture change to increase rigor in spending planning and execution
  • Gravitas and the ability to develop a cross-functional team-oriented approach and establish a high level of credibility at senior levels in the organization
  • Strong grasp of finance, analytics, reporting, automation, and compliant procurement practices
  • 10+ years’ experience in pharmaceutical/biotech/MedTech or related business
  • Demonstrated ability to envision opportunities and drive operational effectiveness or efficiency of teams through planning or streamlining processes and/or operating model enhancement
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in leading teams with capabilities to motivate, inspire, develop & deliver
Desirable for the role
  • Current and relevant HQ Oncology experience
  • 2nd Leadership experience in a heavily matrixed environment
  • Experience driving successful simplification and prioritization initiatives
  • Global and Market commercial experience
