Job Summary:

The Decision Science Transformation team focuses on creating innovative mathematical models to inform business decision making through data. The team’s emphasis is on researching and prototyping novel modeling approaches to a diverse portfolio of projects, many of which pertain to revenue management.

The Decision Science Transformation team resides within the Disney Decision Science + Integration (DDSI) organization. DDSI provides internal consulting services for clients across The Walt Disney Company. The DDSI team sits at the intersection of business strategy, advanced analytics, and technology integration to help our partners explore opportunities for analytics, shape business decisions, and drive value. Our work includes conceptualizing new solutions, solution design and development, implementation and integration with business processes, and ongoing business support.

This Senior Decision Scientist role is expected to pursue transformative methods of analytics that are new to the team with minimal guidance. A specific area of interest is advanced causal inference and applications to multiple projects in revenue management related areass. Additionally, the Senior Decision Scientist is expected to interact with clients and partner teams (including at the executive level) with little guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Tell the story—Present science results to business partners and clients
  • Pursue innovation—Conduct research on analytical techniques and translate that research into usable and sustainable solutions for users
  • Achieve business goals and objectives—Research and develop decision science models and act as a consultant to all business units within The Walt Disney Company
  • Drive value—Model and analyze revenue management and pricing related issues using various mathematical, statistical, and simulation techniques
  • Put your skills to the test—Perform data collection and data mining, and build state-of-the-art decision science algorithms, tools, and systems

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of related/relevant experience
  • Clustering
  • Ability to provide peer leadership to junior colleagues
  • Causal inference
  • Nonparametric regression
  • Ability to effectively prioritize tasks enabling work on multiple projects concurrently
  • Bayesian statistics
  • Must exhibit competence in R or Python
  • Choice models
  • Ability to work with little guidance on science methodologies and modeling approaches, based on sound business acumen
  • Knowledge of revenue management concepts and techniques
  • Mixed models
  • Must exhibit competence in:

    • Causal inference

    • Bayesian statistics

    • Choice models

    • Mixed models

    • Clustering

    • Nonparametric regression

How to Stand Out:

  • Familiarity with software development tools such as GitLab/GitHub, Docker, and cloud computing tools such as AWS
  • Broad knowledge models in one or more business areas related to revenue management such as marketing or supply chain analytics

Required Education:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Mathematics, Econometrics, or related field
