Senior Data Analyst - Healthcare

Responsible for the development and production of cost and utilization reporting to support UMass Memorial Health (UMMH) system’s managed care contract negotiations and Managed Care Network risk contract performance management.

Major Responsibilities:

• Summarizes and packages results for presentation to leadership.
• Extracts and manipulates cost, utilization and membership data using SPSS, Access and Excel as needed.
• Develops and conducts analysis and modeling to supports negotiation and management of alternative payment arrangements.
• Performs ad-hoc data analysis and reporting as required.
• Works with internal and cross-departmental teams to develop actionable reporting for the management of total medical expense.
• Develops reports using payor claims data to support various organizational initiatives, leveraging public data to support and enhance analyses for negotiations.

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, Managed Care Health Care Administration or relevant discipline.

Preferred:

• Master’s degree.

Experience/Skills:

Required:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
• Significant Excel knowledge and experience working with large datasets, and advanced proficiency in SQL, SPSS, SAS or VBA.
• Ability to work independently as well as with a team.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Five years related experience of health care data analysis.
• Knowledge of healthcare terms and reimbursement methodologies is required.
