Microsoft’s Innovation Communications team is looking for a results-driven Senior Communications Manager to lead responsible artificial intelligence (AI) technical storytelling. In this role, you will be responsible for developing story ideas and landing coverage about the work Microsoft is doing to engineer and deploy AI safely and responsibly for customers around the world.

We are looking for a collaborative, diplomatic, organized, communicator. If you enjoy learning about new technologies, especially AI, and are familiar with how to work across a broad set of media to tell proactive stories, this could be the right role for you. We are looking for someone who is comfortable working in an ever-changing landscape and can manage multiple projects and stakeholders at a time, as well as respond to reactive media inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Have a pulse on the AI landscape and how Microsoft is differentiating itself. Identify gaps and opportunities to strengthen our efforts.
  • Manage reactive media inquiries.
  • Collaborate with partners and customers on storytelling moments.
  • Develop content ideas for our owned channels, and work closely with our content strategist and channel owners to execute.
  • Work closely with engineering, marketing, legal, policy, and communications colleagues to land technically focused coverage related to building AI safely and responsibly.
  • Develop stories and/or content for events and product announcements.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 4+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, Social Media Platform, Media Relations or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years specialized functional (e.g., retail, technology) experience.
  • 3+ years experience working with social media platforms.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Finance, or related field AND 6+ years Communications, Marketing Operations, Field Operations, Program Management, Project Management, or related experience
    • OR equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years experience supporting senior executives in an executive communications role.*
Communications IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $101,200 - $194,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $130,000 - $213,200 per year.
