Job Summary


Responsible for architecting cloud infrastructure that support critical business functions. Responsibilities include but are not limited to architecting cloud infrastructure services, solution configurations and procedures, developing prototypes and reference implementations for infrastructure as code, developing and maintaining architecturally significant reusable patterns to facilitate usage of cloud infrastructure. Provides expertise on leveraging cloud infrastructure to other technical groups, develops cloud infrastructure best practices and general architectural guidance. Supports other technical groups in the use of cloud infrastructure and drives maximizing our ability to gain value from cloud infrastructure services.

Responsibilities


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Leads the design and development of cloud infrastructure standards, and procedures to ensure our cloud infrastructure is stable, recoverable, secure, and appropriate to support the academic, operational, and research missions of the Institution
2. Drives the utilization of appropriate cloud infrastructure technology
3. Develops patterns, templates, code, and utilities for managing cloud infrastructure as code
4. Diagnoses and addresses complex cloud infrastructure problems
5. Manages top level cloud tenants that host university infrastructure
6. Oversees and coordinates usage of cloud infrastructure by other infrastructure teams
7. Makes high level design choices and sets technical direction for Cloud infrastructure services and processes
8. Responsible for developing, tracking, and analyzing key performance metrics to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and transparency of cloud infrastructure usage
9. Works closely with senior leadership to develop cloud technology policy and roadmaps
10. Foster an environment conducive to rapid cloud adoption by teaching and helping discipline specific technical staff utilize cloud infrastructure services
11. Develops and maintains technical controls required to ensure cloud infrastructure security

Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related STEM field from an accredited institution of higher education or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience
Required Experience
Seven (7) years of related IT experience demonstrating a progression of increasing responsibility including at least four (4) years of infrastructure related experience and two (2) years of experience with cloud infrastructure and infrastructure as code.

KNOWLEDGE
Extensive knowledge of server and storage infrastructure planning, operations, and lifecycle management
In-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure services and methods
In-depth knowledge and ability to develop and utilize infrastructure as code.
Knowledge of network, computer and storage infrastructure concepts and systems.
Must have a good understanding Identity and Access Management concepts and technologies
Must be well versed in current and emerging technologies, technological trends, and industry best practices for their areas of responsibility
SKILLS
Effective vendor management and negotiation skills
Strong leadership skills
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, time management, project management and presentation skills
Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite)
Must have strong programming skills in languages relevant to automation
