Overview


The Buyer will effectively process all assigned requirements into purchase orders with suppliers and perform all post-order management work to ensure services or materials being procured are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with Veeco Purchasing Procedures and objectives.


Responsibilities


  • Request quotations with vendors for best pricing and delivery
  • Process rejected materials and returns per (MRB) guidelines, ensuring cause and corrective action as necessary
  • Support global sourcing strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Design and manage working sessions, involving and communicating with management as necessary
  • Maintain schedules over the life of the purchase order from receipt of requisition, placement of order, managing expedites / reschedules / cancellations / past due orders, to acceptance of the assigned material into stock and the resolution of invoice discrepancies
  • Place purchase orders for assigned vendors or commodities, utilizing MRP or other planning strategies and performing all steps in the procurement process with accuracy and care to avoid economic loss and customer dissatisfaction
  • Coordinate the execution of Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s) and Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s)
  • Maintain data that enables the effectiveness of company systems and processes
  • Negotiate best price, lead-time and delivery
  • Communicate expectations, requirements, and issues with suppliers and stakeholders across departments and business units
  • Manage supplier relationships and performance to meet company expectations and objectives


Qualifications


Requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or equivalent experience


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Ability to read/understand blue prints
  • Able to listen to and understand issues and to effectively communicate with management
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task, strong interpersonal and negotiating skills
  • Able to perform the essential daily functions of the position with minimal supervision
  • Independently capable of anticipating, identifying, analyzing and resolving most supply chain problems within the limits of delegated authority
  • Proficient in MS Excel and experience using an MRP System, preferably SAP
  • Ability to react to change productively and to work in fast-paced, team-oriented environment


The expected salary range for this position is $89,817.00- $113,767.25 + bonus + benefits. When determining your pay, we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.
